Here are some ideas for summer activities for youth. 1.) Regular Library Visits: The new and improve Library will be opened in June. Parents, assign your youth a regular book project. Have them check out a book and do a book report for you twice per month. You can also give your child research projects such as a list of events that occurred the year they were born including who was the U.S. President, Major News and Sports events. The library is a great place to be during the summer. 2.) Make a structured schedule: include a list of chores, activities and meal times. Let your child take part in creating the schedule. Be very detailed and consistent. Include weekly incentives when all assignment are complete such as movie tickets or cash. 3.) Purchase a 6 flags amusement park season pass. A good investment particularly with the relatively close location of Discovery Kingdom. 4.) Get a bike: go into the garage and get those old rusty flat bikes fixed and get moving. Have your child follow proper safety precautions while riding. Have family bike rides in the evening. Its good exercise and good quality family time. 5.) Start a yard or garden project giving the youth a section to cultivate. 6.) Schedule family field trips to local museums and fun & game centers. 7.) Have youth write & creat an on-line weekly Blog or Journal. |
